Skyway Cruise Port Proposal Statement

Tampa Bay Watch does not support the proposed Skyway cruise port development near Terra Ceia and Rattlesnake Key.

According to the Tampa Bay Estuary Program, approximately 295 acres of natural habitat are located within the proposed project footprint. Located at the mouth of Tampa Bay, this project poses significant risks to wildlife and environmental ecosystems that are critical to the health of the bay. This project will severely degrade water quality, cause increased risk of coastal erosion, reduce oyster reef population, and damage seagrass habitats necessary for a healthy bay. The proposed cruise port would destroy the progress that has been made by not only Tampa Bay Watch, but other organizations dedicated to safeguarding the valuable resource that is our estuary.

Tampa Bay Watch is committed to protecting and restoring Tampa Bay. We believe a cruise port in this location is incompatible with the long-term health of the bay and will cause significant and long-lasting harm to ecosystems and wildlife in our estuary.

We believe in the strength of our community. To take action and stop the Skyway Cruise Port, sign the petition from the Suncoast Waterkeeper by clicking the button below.
